Lao Telecom Spur Link Project Dec 1998 – Nov 2002

 

Successful negotiated follow-on project prior to international tender (AU$2.4M), improved project margin by 20%, completion of Phase2 project on time, despite wet season installation, late product deliveries, and relaxed style of Lao installation crews, completion of project on budget

 

In designing the network, I used Pathloss4 and topographical mapping data for link design and reporting, DDF design and implementation, designed the physical and logical layout of LongReach radios, Omnitronics supervisory system and Rad OLT equipment in Telecommunications hut, Solar system design and provisioning, created the project BOM and approved all related purchases

 

I was responsible for liaising with Australian suppliers for timely project deliveries, coordination of transport of 5x 22ft containers to Lao and then distribution in country using 4WD utes, 6WD trucks, elephants and rural villagers and coordination of LTC staff and specialist installation staff to install radio network

 

Managed the construction of 8 guy mast towers and 18 shelters

 

Coordinating teams of Lao installation personnel and Australian Technical specialists

 

Provision of country wide training for LTC local staff

 

Negotiation of project warranty obligation buy-back by LTC

 

My last tasks were Project Acceptance sign off, in-country office closure and retrieval of all bank bonds
